Sherry Fitzgerald Rainey is celebrating a double awards haul this month.
The Sherry FitzGerald Group received the ‘Residential Agency Award’ at the prestigious Irish Independent Property Industry Excellence Awards 2016 on Thursday November 10 in the National Convention Centre in Dublin.
The icing on the cake for Sherry FitzGerald Rainey came when Managing Director Dermot Rainey was honoured with induction into the Letterkenny Business Hall of Fame the following night in the Mount Errigal Hotel.
The ‘Residential Agency Award’ copper-fastens Sherry FitzGerald’s reputation for delivering the highest standards of professionalism and excellence across the entire property sector. The judges sought excellence in several areas including overall contribution to the industry, research and thought leadership, corporate social responsibility strategy, client satisfaction, employee development and CPD structures. The awards attracted 200 entries across eleven categories.
The second award was an altogether more personal accolade, celebrating Dermot Rainey for his exemplary professionalism and dedication to excellence over a career spanning five decades in the property industry in Donegal.
Toni Forrester, CEO of Letterkenny Chamber, led the tributes to Dermot on his induction into the Letterkenny Business Hall of Fame
She said: “We are delighted to recognise the sterling contribution that Dermot Rainey has made to the business and social fabric of Letterkenny. The Rainey family is very long-standing in Letterkenny business circles and has weathered many storms to come back on top thanks to Dermot’s astute leadership. He is a man of whom Letterkenny is very proud and the Chamber is honoured to welcome him into the Hall of Fame.”
In 1974 Dermot entered the family estate agency business established by his father (also Dermot) in 1958.
One of the seminal moments in Dermot’s career was when he led the company as the sole commercial agent in the delivery of Letterkenny Shopping Centre in 1985.
In 1999 Dermot led the family firm into the Sherry FitzGerald franchise and “never looked back”.
He said he saw the “bigger picture” and made a move which resulted in forging a stronger family-run business that had the collective power of the Sherry FitzGerald brand to withstand the frugal hardships of the economic bust.
“Sherry FitzGerald has helped our business into a different league now. It has elevated us into a much stronger position than we otherwise would have been in.”
“The Sherry Fitz Way ensures that buyers and sellers get the best possible outcome for their property needs. It is a perfect fit for the high standard of excellence that our family business has always upheld.
“The Letterkenny Business Hall of Fame award may have my name on it – and I am honoured and humbled by that – but in reality it recognises everyone associated with Sherry FitzGerald Rainey. It pays tribute to those high standards which we have always delivered and will continue to deliver in our family business,” he said.
